Troubleshooting Downloads
We hope that the downloads to accompany our books function as intended, but once in a while a problem occurs. Listed below are some occasionally encountered issues, and their fixes.

Downloads won't unzip
We do check all our downloads to ensure that they will unzip they are meant to. If you encounter error messages whilst trying to open zip files please check that any third party utility that you are using, (WinZip for example), is up to date. It is also worth trying alternative methods, for instance using your operating system's integrated unzipping utility, as this often seems to work as a fix
For the record, most book's downloads are zipped using the latest version of Mac OS X which ought to result in a platform agnostic .zip file
Downloaded .FLA files won't open
FLAs to accompany our Flash titles will usually be saved for the version of Flash that the book relates to: CS3 for Flash CS3 books; 8 for Flash 8 books etc. It is not possible to open an FLA in a version of Flash earlier than that which it was intended for. For example, you could not open a FLA saved for Flash 8 in Flash MX 2004.
If you are using a version of Flash older than any given book intends, you will need to open the FLA in its native version and save it as an older type. Most versions of Flash will allow for saving FLAs for either the current or previous version. For example, you can save an FLA as Flash 8 from Flash CS3. You can use the freely available trial versions of Flash that Adobe offers for this. Please note that you may lose functionality from some files by saving to an older version
