Simone: “I still always travel with a sketchbook in my hand because my mind is constantly active when I’m watching people in various environments. When I design a female character, I typically start from a simple sketch: pencil on white paper. After making an initial draft, I’ll scan it into digital form and then add all the intricate little details, like facial characteristics, makeup, tattoos, nail polish, and so on, using vectors in Illustrator. After the image is traced, I also add some shading to give the body more volume.”
