From most recent to 'back in the day', here you'll find all sites deemed worthy of a friends of ED 'Site of the Week' award. Who have we missed? Feel free to nominate your own favorite site.

  • pixelme – We like having fun. Pixelme is fun. Fun that we can't read, but still fun. It's also the first '.eu' we've had as SoTW, trivia fans!
  • Flashback. Flash Future – Our beloved Flash is 10 years old, and to celebrate, Adobe have put together a Flash timeline, chronicling some of the key Flash milestones in that time. It's got us all rather sentimental!
  • The Designers Republic – In the words of Stevie Wonder:
    Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday.
    (The Designers Republic is 20 this week).
  • Ready. Sit. Read! – Picking up not one, or two, but three awards, at the recent Flashbelt Keyworks Competition, Ham in the Fridge's wonderful Ready. Sit. Read! is now also a foED site of the week.
  • CRUSH – They say that content is king, and while the new site is lovely, it's really the content of Crush's folio that make it our Site of the Week
  • Liquid Journey – We met Gary Stasiuk at FITC 05.We met him again at FITC 06.
    We liked his site in 05, we still like it in 06.
    Boy, is this one overdue SoTW!
  • Veerle's blog – It was a winner in the pMachine Shootout. It's received heaps of praise already. And now it's a foED SoTW!
  • Z4byJD – We don't drive cars, preferring to get around on our fleet of bright pink tandems. Original New Master Josh Davies chose to neglect our transport, and has instead created art based on BMW's Z4.
  • Arcade Fire – As we've said before, we like sites that can really be explored, and Arcade Fire offer a site where we can do just that!
  • retrievr – Flickr API + Image Retrieval Algorithms = Wow!
    Search for images by sketching what you hope to find with System One Labs' retrievr.
  • l4b3l.com – At times we like order, yet at other times we like chaos. L4b3l verges on the latter, while providing us with some wonderful motion-graphics loveliness.
  • Favourite Websites Awards – As a site of the week, it's kind of cheating, with it 'merely' being a portal to many other top sites, but FWA has had a makeover, helping to remind us just how many ridiculously talented designers there are out there.
  • Yamogo – We've selected this one as it makes nice use of some of the new features offered by Flash 8. If you're already pushing Flash 8 to it's limit, then let us know, SOTW could be you!
  • Leo Burnett – We're told that "Big Ideas come out of Big Pencils". Go see for yourself at this fantastic site. Surely one of the most addictive navigation systems...ever!
  • zoneflash.net – We love galleries of Flash experiments, and this one has enough movies to keep us entertained for hours. The text is in French, but you don't have to understand the language to appreciate Vincent Crublé's work.
  • Oculart – Turn up your volume, maximize your browser, and immerse yourself in the 'flash meets fine art' world of Geoff Lillemon's Oculart. We did, and loved what we found.
  • Action8 – A spin off from the Make Poverty History campaign site, Action8 gives you the opportunity to get the G8 to do what you want.
  • Orisinal – You can keep your Halo or your Half Life! We want cute games, and Ferry Halim has some absolutely gorgeous ones right here.

  • Wombat Tale – What's not to like about Robbie Sands' Wombat Tale? Kinda reminds us of ' A Nightmare Before Christmas', or 'Rust Boy', which is no bad thing at all!
  • halfshag - pixelArt tool – Everybody and their mom loves nice isometric pixel art. halfshag.com are there, amongst other things, to make creating pixeltastic masterpieces somewhat easier.
  • flickrGraph – Marcos Weskamp's flickrGraph has been around for a little while, but when it picked up the Experimental category award at FITC, it reminded us that it would make a rather good SoTW
  • rocanov.com – Jovan Rocanov's folio site showcases some great looking work and demonstrates fantastic attention to detail. We even like the looped big band jazz—for a short while anyway!
  • The Mirror Project – An ever-expanding gallery of self portraits, each taken in against a reflective surface. Go on... shoot and then upload yourself!
  • CRASH!MEDIA – Globetrotting nice guys CREASH!MEDIA return with the 2005 remix of their site. There's a gorgeous 3D timeline based folio in place, showcasing their mightily impressive wares.
  • Dog Judo – Spotted over at flamous.net, 'Ruff' Rex Hunter and 'Barking' Bob Bones star in this nice viral piece.
  • Antarctica Dispatches – A drawing a day, documenting a two month trip to Antarctica. Beautifully lo-fi, thanks to the use of a Palm-Pilot as a sketchpad.
  • 10x10 – 10x10 is an autonomous news aggregator, that gathers then creatively displays the 100 words and images that best sum up the entire planet at any given hour from a collection of news sources.
  • Snoek & Moose – Hailing from Antwerp, Belgium, Snoek & Moose do a fantastic job of combining 3D, vector and pixel art in their folio site. It's also home to the very tricky Snoekvolley game.
  • Visual Ideology – As the US election race draws to it's conclusion, help discover if your politics affect the way you see things? This project attempts to find out, and provides a timely SoTW too!
  • Asterik Studio – They've worked for The Strokes, Liz Phair, Good Charlotte, Jimmy Eat World, The White Stripes, Puddle of Mudd, and now friends of ED. Yes, Ryan and Don feature in NMoP: Vol 2!
  • Promenade the Puzzle – You know we like our animation, here on the SOTW panel, so we couldn't resist adding a 'foED SOTW' award to those already earned by Michele D'Auria.
  • Cocoon Club – continuing our theme of showcasing the New Masters, Danny Franzreb developed the 'interactive emotional sound experiments' over at the Cocoon Club.
  • BlueSuburbia – BlueSuburbia now comes in two flavors, as New Master of Flash Nathalie Lawhead has been busy creating Volume 2 of her captivating online world.
  • naturemorphosis – Man? Women? Beast? You Decide. We love Oliver Ottner's naturemorphosis. We even used it for our 'NMoP: Volume 2' cover!
  • B-Tomic – XML+Flash+T-Shirts=B-Tomic. Love the Site, Love the Shirts.
  • faceandhead.com/ – Gratuitous use of pink, and a fine collection of animations and illustrations: faceandhead.com
  • Virtual Knee Surgery – Nurse, Pass me the scalpel! It's Eric Bort's award winning Virtual Knee Surgery. Trust me, I'm a doctor.
  • Leaft:let – "Leaf:let is an experiment in the exploration and communication of ideas" ...or a more relaxing way to find those inspirational sites, both old and new. can you find us?
  • lukewhittaker.co.uk – "The music of the people, I like it, I like it... " Create your tune with help from Luke Whittaker

  • haiku.alienmelon.com – So, you've done FF and TGSNT last week? Us too. How about we just chill with a few Slovenian haiku this week?
  • Complexification – Complexification "is in the early stages of development" says Jared Tarbell. We think that it already kicks like a mule!
  • Public Ad Campaign – "a response to the deafening voice of advertising and its tendency to colonize public physical space and thus public mental space" [Public Ad Campaign]
  • plastic kid – Fantastic rhymes with Plastic. Shame he's not from Madrid, as that would rhyme with Kid: Plastic Kid
  • TGNST – FlashTV brings you "The Greatest Story Never Told" competition. friends of ED books are amongst the prizes, so it's time get that right side of your brain working overtime.
  • cornevandooren.com/ – Corné van Dooren's folio site, neat! And for his next trick... check out the cover for Extending Flash MX 2004. Awesome!
  • wefail.com – dark, a little risqué, but most definitely a worthy site of the week: wefail.com
  • imaginer studios – imaginerstudios have both a shiny silver motorcycle and an impressive folio. lucky them!
  • afterlife – with gorgeous photography and ever so subtle flash. it's johnathon clark's afterlife
  • 2112fx – Fresh Flash author Jim Armstrong's new look folio site, 2112fx.com, is all XML driven but, better than that, it's got stickmen movies!
  • xiiin.com – We have quite a few 'works in progress' nominated, but xiiin.com stood out.
  • 3 weeks in april – Byte size's Geneviève Garand picked up the award for Best Navigation at the 2003 NYC Flash Film Festival for 3 weeks in April. ...and it's pink, what more could you want?
  • volkswagen phaeton – We can't quite afford to buy one, but do love exploring the phaeton universe.
  • all media studios – Justin from all media studios has been in touch. Big dramatic flash intro and plenty of juicy content. We love it.
  • www.flashforward2003.com – Not just one site, but many, go vote for the flashforward peoples choice award.
  • WideGroup – WideGroup: so slick it's scary!
  • soundofdesign – foED veteran of the infamous FMC and Fresh Flash campaigns Ty Lettau is still keeping it real at soundofdesign

  • spakkamo – The boys and girls at spakkamo churn out amazingly inventive and playful video, flash and photoshop experiments like they were two a penny...they are too clever, they must be stopped.
  • ngarte – Adrian writes: "My site is mainly built from the php for flash book from friends of ED. I have used many of the tips and tricks I have learn from the book and applied it to this site of mine. About a week ago, I added an avatar chat feature in my site to enable users to chat with other users on my site in the form of an avatar and speech bubble. User can customise their avatar and walk around the site... " Also has lots of pictures of nice doggies - yay...
  • spent2000 – dive in to the many neat little video experiments at spent2000
  • computerfinearts – computerfinearts.com is a small but beautifully formed collection of donated, commissioned and purchased net art works. golan levin, lia, m.wattenberg and young-hae chang are among the exhibitors
  • grime – still one of the most unique sites around - motomichi's study of the nature of violence remains an insane pixel blood bath - qrime rules
  • graphci – graphci have announced the winner of the tableart 2002 invitational. checkout the gallery for tableart aplenty.
  • this is a magazine – we salute magazines - from the godfather that is shift, to the small but beautiful dodge, to the pdf loveliness of beast...and now issue 4 of the flash enhanced wonder that shouts: this is a magazine
  • Leogeo – Stealing Leo Mariño's own meta tags... "Leogeo is an art & design space, a collection of experimental studies in Flash and artworks of any kind"
  • norm.to – You might enjoy norm.to for its elegant study of 2D and 3D forms and spaces, you might enjoy it for its stripped down aesthetic, or you may just revel in the baffling swiss randomness of it all...
  • 27 Bobs – 27 Bobs is Todd Yard's playground. Choose the interface you want - from blackboard to sketchbook - then enjoy its understated charms- including mx tutorials and downloads. Learn more about Todd's tricks in Macromedia Flash MX Studio.
  • Pluxemburg – Officially the nicest band in the world, and without doubt the nicest band web site in the world - where the visuals actually complement the tunes. They are Swedish, they are Pluxus, and they welcome you to Pluxemburg
  • 60x1 – Let a thousand splash pages bloom! Kenneth Tin Kin Hung delivers a heaving floristful of superb collages and fingers in your face. Bound to offend just about everybody.
  • bit-101 – Not too many non-corporate MX sites about yet - so it's good to see the lo-fi MX experimentation on bit 101. Each calendar entry has a well crafted little toy to play with and a short explanation of what and why. Site of the Week - and not just 'cos Keith Peters is a Flash Math Creative.
  • Who's We – It's slick, it's shiny it has strange futuristic gadgets behaving mysteriously ...it's Who's We Design Studios. Can take a while to load, but all good things... [URL updated June 2005]
